Public Safety and CBD Road Closures

Residents and commuters are advised that significant road closures remain in effect throughout the Sydney CBD and Eastern suburbs this Tuesday, 10 February 2026. These disruptions are necessitated by a large-scale, planned Police Operation scheduled to continue until Thursday afternoon. Motorists should anticipate delays and are encouraged to avoid non-essential travel through the city center. Special event clearways are active across several key corridors; please check local signage carefully to avoid vehicle towing.

Transport and Service Adjustments

Major changes to public transport networks are active today to accommodate infrastructure works and the ongoing security operations:

  • Circular Quay Bus Diversions: All bus services that typically terminate at Circular Quay will continue to start and end their trips at Martin Place. This arrangement persists until 2:00 PM Thursday. Affected routes include the 304, 333, 343, 392N, and 396. Passengers are advised to use the Light Rail or Sydney Trains to complete travel between Martin Place and the harbor.
  • Queens Park Route 356: Between 9:30 AM and 2:30 PM today, Route 356 will bypass several stops along Queens Park Road due to local works. Commuters should check the Opal Travel app for real-time stop closures.
  • Sydney Metro Closures: Full line closures are in effect between Tallawong and Chatswood, with replacement buses operating. Additionally, no metro services will run between Central and Sydenham after 9:50 PM tonight as testing for the Southwest Metro extension continues.

NSW Health Alerts

NSW Health has issued a high-priority alert regarding a local increase in measles cases. There have been 10 confirmed cases in Sydney since the start of the year, with evidence of local community transmission. Health officials urge anyone who visited exposure sites in Burwood or Westmead over the previous week to monitor for symptoms, including fever, sore eyes, and a cough followed by a red blotchy rash. If symptoms develop, patients must call ahead to their GP or emergency department to ensure they do not wait in public areas.

Furthermore, a public drug warning remains active for high-dose MDMA (ecstasy) tablets and synthetic cathinones currently circulating in the Sydney region. These substances carry a significantly higher risk of overdose and adverse health events.

Administrative Deadlines

The formal consultation period for the Functional Realignment of the Governance and Legal Division is scheduled to close at the end of business today, Tuesday, 10 February. Impacted stakeholders and public service members are encouraged to submit any final confidential feedback regarding the realignment to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water before the 5:00 PM deadline.
