Major Event Alert: Ed Sheeran and Stadium Sports

Sydney is bracing for a massive Friday night as global superstar Ed Sheeran kicks off the first of his three sold-out shows at Accor Stadium in Olympic Park. With approximately 70,000 fans expected to attend the Friday, 13 February performance, Transport for NSW has declared a major event status for the precinct. Additional express trains and major event buses will operate frequently from mid-afternoon. Commuters are advised that travel on public transport is included in concert tickets to help manage the significant crowds. Residents should anticipate heavy traffic and delays on roads approaching Olympic Park, particularly during the Friday evening peak.

Simultaneously, sporting enthusiasts will descend upon Allianz Stadium for the Super Rugby clash between the NSW Waratahs and the Queensland Reds. In Parramatta, CommBank Stadium will host an A-League double-header featuring the Western Sydney Wanderers’ men’s and women’s teams. Similar to the concert, public transport is included with match tickets for these fixtures, and spectators are strongly encouraged to leave their cars at home to avoid significant delays in the Moore Park and Parramatta CBD areas.

NSW Health: Measles Advisory

NSW Health has issued a public health alert following the notification of new confirmed measles cases in the Sydney metropolitan area. As of February 2026, there is an increased risk across the state, with ten cases confirmed since the start of the year. Health officials are urging individuals who visited public locations in Granville, Parramatta, and Burwood in late January and early February to remain vigilant for symptoms. While the specific exposure sites no longer pose an ongoing risk, the incubation period means new cases may still emerge. Symptoms to watch for include fever, sore eyes, and a cough, followed a few days later by a red, non-itchy rash. Anyone with symptoms is advised to call ahead to their GP or emergency department to ensure they do not wait in a public area.

Public Service and Infrastructure Maintenance

The Australian Government has scheduled essential maintenance for the Federal Register of Legislation website. The portal may be slow or unavailable between 9:00 pm and midnight on Friday, 13 February. Users requiring access to legislative documents or gazettes are advised to complete their searches earlier in the day to avoid service disruptions.

Within the City of Sydney, several significant Development Applications (DAs) reach the end of their public exhibition period today. Residents wishing to submit feedback on proposed works at 127 York Street, 1 Toxteth Road in Glebe, and the subdivision at 17 Zetland Avenue must ensure their submissions are received by the 5:00 pm deadline. Additionally, Sydney Water continues its long-term upgrades to the wastewater network in the city’s south and west as part of the Malabar System Investment Program, with construction teams active in public spaces to enhance system resilience.
