Official City Roundup: Thursday, 12 February 2026

Sydney residents and commuters are advised of significant disruptions and official notices active this Thursday. From high-level security operations to public health alerts, the following information is provided to ensure public safety and efficient travel across the metropolitan area.

Major Event Security and Transit Impacts

The final day of a planned major police operation will conclude today, Thursday, 12 February. Extensive road closures and security protocols remain in effect across the Sydney CBD and the Bondi-Eastern Suburbs corridor. These measures, implemented to facilitate the four-day state visit of Israeli President Isaac Herzog, have designated large sections of the city as major event areas.

  • Bus Diversions: Until 2:00 PM today, all bus services that typically terminate at Circular Quay will continue to start and end their trips at Martin Place. Impacted routes include the 304, 333, 343, 392N, and 396. Passengers should utilize the light rail or train network to complete journeys between Martin Place and the harbour.
  • Clearways: Special event clearways are active throughout the CBD. Vehicles parked in these zones will be towed to ensure the security of motorcade routes.

Public Health Alert: Measles Notification

NSW Health has issued a fresh alert following two confirmed cases of measles in the Sydney region. One case was acquired locally, while the second is linked to recent overseas travel. Health officials are urging residents to monitor for symptoms, which include fever, sore eyes, and a cough, followed by a red blotchy rash.

While the specific exposure sites from early February no longer pose an ongoing risk, the public is encouraged to verify their vaccination status. The MMR (measles-mumps-rubella) vaccine remains free for anyone born after 1965 who has not received two doses. If symptoms develop, residents must call their GP ahead of time to avoid infecting others in waiting rooms.

Infrastructure and Essential Roadworks

Several major road projects are reaching milestones or commencing new phases this Thursday:

  • Regentville: Upgrades to Mulgoa Road and the M4 Motorway off-ramps are scheduled for completion today. Expect intermittent lane closures until the late afternoon.
  • Arncliffe: Resurfacing work on the Marsh Street on-ramp to the M5 Motorway concludes today. Motorists should anticipate minor delays during peak periods.
  • Seven Hills: Maintenance work begins today on the Prospect Highway between Brumby Street and Lucas Road. This project is scheduled to run through Monday, 16 February.

City Council Land Proposals

The City of Sydney has opened a public consultation period regarding South Sydney Rotary Park at 53A Henderson Road, Eveleigh. The proposal seeks to temporarily classify the land as 'operational' to facilitate essential public works. Following the completion of these works, the land will be reclassified back to 'community' status. Feedback from the public is invited until 12 March 2026.
