Public Notice: Major CBD Transport Changes and Health Advisories

Significant CBD and Eastern Suburbs Road Closures
The City of Sydney and Transport for NSW advise motorists and residents of extensive road closures beginning Sunday, 8 February 2026, to facilitate a planned Police Operation. These closures will affect major thoroughfares in the Sydney CBD, Bondi, Queens Park, Darling Harbour, and Watsons Bay. Restrictions are scheduled to remain in place until Thursday, 12 February.
- CBD Access: From 12:00 PM midday on Sunday, multiple access points to the northern CBD will be restricted.
- Special Event Clearways: Clearways will be in effect across various city and local council locations. Vehicles parked in these zones will be towed.
- Eastern Suburbs: Road users in Bondi and Queens Park should expect localized diversions and increased police presence throughout the afternoon.
Public Transport Diversions
Commuters utilizing bus services should be aware of significant route changes starting from midday Sunday. Due to the police operation, buses that typically terminate at Circular Quay will be diverted to Martin Place.
- Impacted Routes: Major services including the 304, 333, 343, 392N, and 396 will end their trips at Elizabeth Street, Stand C (Martin Place) and begin return journeys from Stand E.
- Alternative Travel: Passengers needing to travel between Martin Place and Circular Quay are encouraged to use the Light Rail or Sydney Trains services, which are expected to operate on normal schedules.
NSW Health Advisories
NSW Health has issued critical health alerts active for the Sydney metropolitan area this weekend:
- MDMA Warning: High-dose MDMA (ecstasy) tablets have been found circulating in the community. These tablets contain significantly higher doses than expected and may be linked to recent festival activity. Symptoms of toxicity include severe agitation, high body temperature, and seizures.
- Measles Alert: There is an increased local risk of measles following several cases identified in returned travelers. Residents are urged to monitor for symptoms such as fever and sore eyes followed by a red blotchy rash, and to ensure their vaccinations are up to date.
Local Infrastructure Works: Chipping Norton
Commencing Sunday, 8 February, essential roadworks will begin at the intersection of Governor Macquarie Drive, Newbridge Road, and Brickmakers Drive in Chipping Norton. Motorists should anticipate changed traffic conditions and potential delays as crews perform intersection improvements. Signage and traffic controllers will be on-site to direct flow.
