NSW Health has issued an urgent public health advisory following confirmed measles transmission in the metropolitan area. Officials have identified several public locations where individuals may have been exposed on Saturday, 28 March 2026. Residents who visited the following sites are advised to monitor for symptoms until mid-April:
- Sydney Trains T1 and T2 Lines: Commuters traveling between Liverpool Station and Kingswood Station (via Granville) departing at approximately 4:00 PM.
- Macquarie University: Attendees at the Lotus Lecture Theatre (27 Wally’s Walk) between 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM.
- Royal North Shore Hospital: Visitors and patients present in the Emergency Department on Reserve Road, St Leonards, during the midday period.
Symptoms of measles include fever, sore eyes, and a cough, typically followed by a red, blotchy rash. NSW Health urges anyone experiencing symptoms to call their GP or emergency department in advance to ensure they can be isolated upon arrival.
Community Notice: Sydney Streets Closure in Pyrmont
The City of Sydney has announced the final 'Sydney Streets' event of the summer season, taking place today, Saturday, 28 March. To facilitate this community festival, Harris Street in Pyrmont will be closed to all vehicular traffic between Pyrmont Bridge Road and Union Street. The closure is in effect from early morning until late evening to allow for local business pop-ups, outdoor dining, and live entertainment. Residents are encouraged to use public transport and expect minor delays on surrounding arterial roads.
Public Service Announcement: Essential Rail Trackwork
Transport for NSW advises that extensive trackwork is scheduled for Saturday, 28 March, and Sunday, 29 March 2026. These works will impact several major lines, including the Sydney Trains T1 Western, T2 Inner West & Leppington, and sections of the Sydney Metro. Replacement buses will be in operation for affected sectors. Commuters should allow for significant additional travel time and are encouraged to check the Trip Planner or the Opal Travel app for real-time service updates and shuttle bus stop locations.
Local Planning: Green Bans Park Consultation
The City of Sydney is currently seeking community feedback on the proposed upgrade of Green Bans Park in Erskineville. The consultation period is active today, inviting residents to review plans for new nature play areas, upgraded playground equipment, and improved pedestrian pathways. Feedback can be submitted online through the 'Sydney Your Say' portal. This project is part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to enhancing local green spaces and active recreation facilities.
