Significant Disruptions Due to Planned Police Operation

Commuters in the Sydney CBD and Eastern Suburbs are advised to prepare for significant travel changes today, Tuesday, 10 February 2026. A major planned Police Operation, associated with a high-profile four-day state visit, has necessitated extensive road closures and security zones across the city. These measures are expected to remain in place until Thursday afternoon, impacting major arteries and local traffic flow in the CBD, Darling Harbour, and Bondi.

Circular Quay Bus Routes Diverted to Martin Place

The most substantial impact for public transport users today involves a complete relocation of bus termini for routes that typically service Circular Quay. From now until 2:00 PM Thursday, buses will not be running to or from Circular Quay. Instead, services will start and end their trips at Martin Place. Impacted routes include:

  • Routes 304, 333, 343, 392N, and 396: All city-bound services will terminate at Elizabeth Street, Stand C (Martin Place).
  • Outbound Services: Passengers should board these services at Elizabeth Street, Stand E.

Commuters needing to travel between Martin Place and Circular Quay are encouraged to use the Sydney Trains network or the Light Rail, which continue to operate through the area, though they may experience higher passenger volumes than usual.

Local Roadworks and Suburban Alerts

In addition to the CBD security measures, several local disruptions are scheduled for today:

  • Queens Park: Route 356 will miss several stops along Queens Park Road between 9:30 AM and 2:30 PM today due to local works.
  • Chipping Norton: Changed traffic conditions remain in effect at the intersection of Governor Macquarie Drive, Newbridge Road, and Brickmakers Drive.
  • Bondi Beach: While the most severe diversions occurred yesterday, a heavy police presence and potential short-notice closures remain possible along Campbell Parade and surrounding streets.

Sydney Metro and Regional Rail Updates

Passengers using the Sydney Metro M1 line should be aware of nightly testing and trackwork. From 9:50 PM tonight, no metro services will run between Central and Sydenham. During this window, commuters should use existing rail services between these stations. For regional travelers, coaches will continue to replace trains between Muswellbrook and Sydney for the North Western region, affecting services to and from Armidale and Moree throughout the day.

Commuter Advice

Motorists are urged to defer non-essential travel into the CBD today to avoid congestion near closure points. If you must drive, allow at least 20 to 30 minutes of additional travel time. Always check for special event clearway signage before parking, as towing is strictly enforced during this police operation to maintain security corridors.
